HELP!!

This is my first time so I don’t know what shrink wrap is! :) Your probably right about it soaking up the yolk. I won’t do anything to it until I candle tomorrow and see if there’s any movement.

Shrink wrapping is when so much moisture is lost from the egg during incubation that the internal membrane peels away from the shell and contracts down around the chick so tightly it cannot move.

You generally need to have had too low humidity for the entire incubation for this to happen, it cannot happen from leaving the incubator open during lockdown for five minutes.

What could happen is the membrane could dry out and stick to the chick, making it so they're stuck, but that's not really shrink wrapping, and briefly opening the incubator is unlikely to cause that to happen too.

That said, don't be opening it up willy-nilly with no reason. A quick peek in for candling would be fine though.

Thanks! My humidity is actually not low. The problem right now is it’s to high! I can’t seem to lower it it just got high because 2 other chicks hatched. I took out the red plugs and it really isn’t helping. It’s at 74% is that to high? Update: I’m actually getting worried. It’s starting to go up now. It’s at 75% and I see another chick coming! Is this bad?

That's fine :) That won't hurt anything.

Here’s an update! So I have 11 chicks hatched and still in the incubator drying. 4 was fluffed up so I moved them. I see about 2 eggs pipping and starting to make it around to come out. Since I have so many chicks, my humidity is at 80% is that okay too? Also can I move some to the brooder (I think that’s what it’s called) if there fluffy but some parts are still wet?

I see you should wait another 3 days, old egg don't pipe and day 20,the might pipe at 21 or 22 specially in summer.

Yep, you could move some to the brooder :) 80% is a little high, but still shouldn't hurt them.

Okay sounds good. I have another problem.... I see this chick starting to pip and it’s almost out. I see this film on his eyes and head and it’s clear but I can tell it’s there. It doesn’t look like the membrane because it’s not that white. Is this something bad? It’s literally almost out. I’ll try putting a picture up
