Well, yes -- when they eat food goes into the crop... basically thing of it like a bag in their neck. That gets full and then it slowly goes down their throat. You don't want to squeeze the crop. When I pick them up, one hand goes under their feet, the other in a loose circle around their neck -- basically I make a very loose "o" with my thumb and pointer finger and put it on them like a necklace.
Picking them up and squeezing the crop after they eat is basically like someone picking you up and squeezing your stomach after a big meal. The food is going to go somewhere.
As they get bigger, I carry them like a football.
