My duck was severely injured by a raccoon a few months ago. After several vet visits & treatments, she pulled through but now has a problem. The raccoon destroyed her oil gland. I have been bathing her with dawn dish soap and blowing her dry about once a weak, but does anyone know of a better answer? Is there a synthetic oil or substitute I could use? I’m afraid this poor girl won’t live long if I can’t help her better.

@Miss Lydia can help

They said to use a pea size amount of the clear, fragrance free dawn dish soap and rinse her thoroughly rinse then dry her completely with towels & a light hair dryer if necessary
Okay, On a bird with a healthy oil gland it strips the oil out of the feathers and ruins perfectly good feathers, But i guess the vet figures she cant make oil anyway so atleast shes clean

Her neck was bitten and her entire back was ripped apart. It’s amazing she survived...
