Hello I acquired this guy last night. He sounds hoarse and sneezes? Every once in a while. I have him alone. I wasn’t sure if the hoarseness was his age at first but now I’m afraid it’s something else. 😒 Can I post a video here somehow?

Upload your video to YouTube and provide a link.

Quarantine the bird until you figure out what's going on.

Any mucous from the nostrils or bubbles/mucous in the eyes?
He does sound a bit congested.

I agree with you, I think I would be concerned that he has something that could be passed on to an existing flock. It would be hard to know what's going on with him without testing.

Not sure what your goals are...breeding, hatching, selling, etc. It would stink to start out right off the bat dealing with a contagious respiratory illness. Quarantining him until you can get some testing done is a good idea. Zoologix or your state lab should be able to do that for you.

Personally, I would not keep a new bird that I thought may have something that could be spread to my other birds, so I would cull him, but I understand that some don't like that idea.
If symptoms worsen and you want to keep him, then get testing and treat symptoms as they arise. https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044

Since I am against the idea of culling, (though I understand why under some circumstances it is the best thing to do) I would say continue to quarantine him and possibly give a little bit of antibiotics or aspirin. I have a chicken that would not stop sneezing for like a week. Gave her a bit of aspirin mixed in with her food for the day, the next day, the sneezing stopped. A few days later I put her back in with the flock, none of them seemed to have any issues. Yes, I'm aware this could be purely coincidental, but it never hurts especially when you mix it in with some yogurt to help make more they don't get an upset stomach. Hope that helped!

i contacted the person I got him from less than 12 hours ago and she insists he was fine. I understand stress can bring out mg symptoms so maybe he will stop once settled or treated but I’m afraid he’ll still have the underlying contagion. :/ She said she would take him back. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m disappointed as I would like a salmon faverolle roo and heis a great age.

yes, that is a hard decision. At least the person will take him back...
Personally I would wait a few days to see if it is just from stress, but after that, there is a good chance it is from something else.
