Hi everyone, this is my 4th time hatching chicks. This little bantam egg started pipping but after 26 hours had made no more progress so I decided to help. I peeled away the shell really carefully but he was too weak to kick out of the membrane. I pulled the membrane away slowly and his head popped out, so I wiggled him out of the egg to find his yolk sack maybe?? Wasn't completely dissolved and had started bleeding. He's lost a lot of blood but the bleeding has stopped. I have him on a warm heat pack, he's very weak he hasn't opened his eyes or lifted his head but he occasionally peeps. Please let me know if he will survive and if there's anything I can do to help him.

you can feed him electrolyte and vitamin water through a dropper applied to the side of his beak and let little drops in. Hold him upright and watch him swallow. little and often. keep him warm/snuggled with a soft toy.

if he survives the day and perks up, I can give you some ideas on booster feeding after that - egg yolk and other high calorie food. For now you need to concentrate on his fluids and blood sugars/balance.

Thank you!! I took him to the vet actually and they gave him an injection of fluids, they also gave me some antibiotics he has to take morning and night along with some antiseptic cream. They told me to but him back in the incubator until he perks up. They said there isn't a big chance he will survive as he lost A LOT of blood but this is the best chance he's got. He's in the incubator (separated from the other chicks in a tupperware) with some towel to snuggle into. I hope he makes it, I've become quite attached to the little guy 😓

If he pulls through I would love to hear your ideas of booster/high calorie. I'll post an update later today. Thanks for your reply

I hope he survives. Its really hard losing the tiny ones, I know too well.

Come back in 12 hours and update us.

Sad update: sorry I didn't update after 12 hours. Shortly after we got home from the vet I put her back in the incubator and checked on her every couple minutes, she seemed to be getting stronger. The last time I checked she had stopped breathing :(

On a happier note, here are all her brothers and sisters
