I candelled the front three today again and the one i thought was a dud has embroy and veins. One of the eggs had veins and embroy and an allmost completed ring, not fully though. I'm worried that i have done something to the egg while candelling. does a earluy death (bloodring) have veins and an embroy?

Yes they can.. but you can leave it a couple days to make sure, the veins should disappear if it is dead. From what I have read, one with a blood ring will not live till hatch because of the bacteria that causes the ring in the first place. I just pull them if I see a complete ring in an egg. I have had a few eggs that the first veins seem to form a rough ring in the egg but a blood ring is a perfect ring.

feww. It's really rough and not joined at the two ends so now i think it will be fine. 11 days to hatch day!!!!!

Usually blood rings show up in the first week before you can really see the embryo well. Glad you think the eggs is still good! I lost a whole batch of eggs to blood ring. When I took everything out I had a few pieces of moldy grain under my water dish. That was all it took to spoil the whole batch.

Some weird things have been happening lately in the chook shed. Well, somehow the other brown bantie got into the nest box and laid an egg. I can't tell what egg so when all the others hatch and their is one egg left over (we will candel them) we will put it in the incubator. Also our wild chicken that we found a year ago on the road sleeps in a different copp with her friends, but druing the day she comes in and keep pecking the white one till she get up and off the nest then walks away. She is the most dominent chicken. I',m not sure if she knows their is going to be more baby chicjkens or telling her to get off the nest and eat. any ideas? SEVEN DAYS TO HATCH!!!!!! :D

Can you put a little fence or cage around the one that is setting?? If She is picking at her now she will most likely peck and possibly kill the babies when they hatch. Maybe someone with more experience can chime in. My Broodies usually find a quiet spot to nest away from the majority of the other birds. Black Broody that is setting now always sets on my porch. Which is nice cause I can keep an eye on her that way. I have to put her in the crate tomorrow though cause they are due to hatch wednesday. I have no luck keeping babies alive when left to free range due to the foxes and hawks. Henny Penny seems to have lost her only baby I left with her yesterday.

eggs hatch in 2 days!!! omg im so excites. We are putting a cage around her tomorrow it like a dog playpen thing, because if i have heard right she wont leave the nest? she can atill strect though. Got chick starter, but i will have to pick the babies out the nest box cause front is too high, when can i touch th babies. 2 more eggs have been laid by the brown one in the nest so we have made a home made incubator just tryin to test it now.

You'd be suprised how high the lil' buggers can jump at two days old. Which is usually when Momma takes them out of the nest. Put some marbles or pebbles in the waterer so the chicks dont drown the first few days. After they imprint on momma they should be okay out in the flock. Dont expect Momma to let you anywhere near the babies without a fight.
