So I finally get my ducks in this morning -yay! And all is well ... Until this one I believe tries to take a poo... She's just standing there chirping and whirling her lil tail . But nothing .. 20 mins .. Still the same .. Sometimes swatting and whirling still nothing . I look at her bottom no pasty butt - I put acv in the water before they came anyways - so I put her back w her friends and she continues .. Chirp chirp chirp ... I get the pool out thinking maybe if she's in water it'll help - the others even tho they are only 2 days old are zooming and playing ... Not her . She's barely moving .. Just chirping and whirling ..
I pick her up .. And it now looks like this
400

Every time I touch it she freaks out and there's white stuff oozing out ?? Help!! I don't want her to die! She won't lay down even !

I have had this happen in quail chicks but never a duck. In the quail it was always a hatch deformity and I could never save them. Hate to bring bad news! It might be possible though. Of course everything I just read said to take it to a vet but..... So You could try to soak it in epsom salt water for fifteen minute periods to help draw out whatever it is. I wish I was of more help!

Will it still have problems tho everytime it poops?

Possibly. That's unfortunately the best I can tell you. I have very few quail live through it but the problem always came back when they began laying eggs. This is of course assuming that it is a deformity. Was just researching it a little. Could it possibly have eaten anything that has caused a blockage?

Ok I didn't have any Epsom handy but I put her but under a lil warmish water and I don't know if it was that or her freaking out but some poo came out... It's still sticking out tho . And the other ducks were frantic running the length of the brooder wondering what was going on and chirping loudly for her . Aww

Well that's good! So I would continue soaking her and make sure she drinks plenty of water to. Wouldn't encourage eating though quite yet.

Well how is she now? I was thinking that maybe you could give her some apple cider vinegar in the water she is drinking and that might help flush things through. People use it on their birds when they have an impacted craw so it might help with this to. I couldn't find anything that flat out said it wold but I don't think it would hurt her. But it is honestly your call.

It's not red or inflamed as before . But every time she goes to poo . Which I don't think has happened since I did it . She still chirps and whirls . I just put her under the water again and she's more interested in preening herself . But won't lay down otherwise . I did have acv in the water . But I just took it out and upped the dose so maybe that'll help ... Now there's just yellowish stuff down there . Idk if that's poo or discharge ??
