HELP!!!!!!!!

I would say it depends on the birds. I have intergrated birds into a flock with no issues at all and then I have had birds that were in another room for 3 months, with only a chicken wire covered door between them, fight like all get out when I put them together. Maybe it's mean, but I have found if there's no blood...no harm, no foul. They have to establish pecking order and it can take between a few days to weeks. Most of the time the fighting is over quickly and everyone finds their place.

Some people suggest you add the new ones to the roost at night. This way they wake up in the morning near or next to someone new. I think the idea is that the chickens have been breathing the scent of the new ones all night and don't really know the difference. Didn't work for me, lol, but it may for you.

If you feel the time is right, all you can do is try. Having a back up plan is a really good idea though. Remove any that are getting picked to the point of injury or blood. Especially blood....to not do so is asking for the death of this bird. Once they draw blood all of them will go after the bird and it will be over if it isn't removed and Blu-Koted. Even then, some birds can be hateful and seem to have a longer memory than others. Watch as you said and check frequently for damage. They do get over it, lol, promise.

Sweet I sat out there for a few he's then I have been going out to check them every thirty and I did a meal worm feeding frenzy they all did good. No has been hurt yet the rooster that went after my turkey went after one of the smallest babies and the two ducks and two meaties went at him and he's been pouting ever since lol. I think if they keep doing good I will put the heat lamp out since they are just 5 weeks today and still in the 40' s at night and give it a try :) maybe I will get my bathroom back for a bit lol.

Hey haunted I need you again lol. My neighbor just almost ran over a tiny baby wood duck maybe a day old. He couldn't find a momma so he brought it to me any help it advise to keep this little guy alive? I've never had one this tiny. I gave him chick starter 21% made soupy, vitamins and electrolytes in warm water and some grit. But he is just sleeping.

Okay first things. He's probably cold and needs a heat lamp ASAP, warm water to drink as well to get his core temp up. Non-medicated chick feed would be okay for now, but later will need a different choice and you will need some niacin tablets to add to his water. Not the time release or no flush, they're useless as they leave the body too quickly to be of any benefit. 100-150mgs. per gallon of water.

Okay now some sad truths. This poor little mite may have been left behind by it's mother or it may have been grabbed by something and then dropped. I don't know and can't 'see'. I'd be the first one to do something, so we'll try everything I know and can think of, but it may come to naught. Wild birds are different and it's hard to get them to thrive.

OK I got everything. He swam a little last night and peeped a little but mostly laying around today I can't tell if he's eating or drinking when I go in to watch him he just hides. I have prepared myself for the worst just in case the hubby made me promise. But I just have to try. Thank you so much if you have any more tips they are appreciated. I guess I have officially became the neighborhood crazy bird lady lol.

Welcome to the club!!!! I ordered 45 birds from my local farm store. all vaccinated for Marek's....I ended up with 72 as they had some extra vaccinated chicks. Yeah...I'm so HABBY!!!! LOL!

If he has survived the night it is a good sign! don't put him in the water yet, he's probably too little and you can't coat him with the oils to keep him water proof like his mother. After 3-4 weeks is soon enough. Switch his feed to Purina Flock Raiser or equivalent and start the niacin in his water. Everyday he survives is a good thing! Now, a trick I learned.....hold your hand inside the brooder where you have him. Don't move it and just stay still. pretty soon he will come out and check out what has invaded his territory. You may have to do this a few times but trust me...it's so worth it. This little bugger will imprint on you and trust you for everything if you are patient and persistant. It will not happen overnight, sorry, lol. When it does, it will happen fast...he will be there everytime you come into view and will cry for you when you are not. You will be his. Rewarding, but it comes with a price. If this little one makes it, you will need to get him some of his own kind. Be it Mallard or another his size, he will need more before you are done. Ducks are awesome so do not be afraid of that.

Lol 72! I was thinking of going tomorrow to get a friend for him. I have two kakhi Campbell's (I think) right now that are 5 weeks one male one female so I need another female. What do u think? And will that be OK til I find somewhere where I can get another duckling of his size or kind?

After you get him to the point where he is eating and drinking on his own, I'd have him near them if you can. Are they outside yet or still in a brooder? If a brooder you could try putting him close to them, so they can see each other. Not in together yet, but maybe a clear plastic tote. Daily visits if necessary, just so he doesn't feel alone. A friend his size would be a better thing while he's in the brooder. Are you thinking Mallard? If I remember correctly, they're about the same size when grown. A Mallard would be closer to the 'wild' than a KC as well. No matter what you decide, I'd get 2 just in case something does happen to the little one. It would be awful to have the one you get as a friend find itself alone if the worst did happen.

Good news he's eating I put some small koy food in his water dish last night he gobbled them up and I mixed small meal worms and grass in his food I caught him eating today! I'm going to stop today and get him a couple friends today i put a mirror and a stuffed bear in with him for now:)
