Hello, I've been following your posts faithfully. With your help & replies I helped a chick out of its shell. Membrane was dry and chick was way to big. Started piping last night and was able to poke a hole where I could see the beak. Same hole thins afternoon, so I took all your advice and "gave birth". She seems to be having a hard time getting up. Piping loud and keeps on flopping around. My question is, after something like this happens, how long should it take for the chick to get up? my other chicks all hatched fine and all 8 are fuzzy, cute, eating & drinking in the brooder. any help would be appreciated.

Hi! It shouldn't take long. Its probably just tired. I would let it rest. If it doesn't get up by tomorrow, dip its beak into some electrolyte water. Mix 1 cup water, 2 teaspoons of sugar, 1/8 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda together.
Edited to add:
Was there any blood when you helped it out? Does the chick have any unabsorbed yolk?
Hope that helped!
