I know what a yardbird plucker is.
it is similar to the whizbang.
I built five whizbangs and sold them.
the tractor was not just an easy fix,
Jason didn't charge me any $ for fixing it.
I guess because we both were so relieved that the distributor drive didn't break again.
It is still raining. it started just after 4PM last night.
by 10PM we already had 1/4 "
I got about 3/4 of an inch yesterday.

Cappy, no animals and loss of memory hasn't stopped me from posting.
just stop by once in awhile so we know you are OK.
I just bottled up ten gallons of blackberry wine.
now I am waiting for rubber seals for the flip top beer bottles so I can bottle up 5 gallons of brew. then Annie can have her kitchen back.
the black stray cat has set up residence in the garage. Annie feeds him every day. but I suppose as soon as spring comes and it warms up, he will go looking for some girl friends.

I likely won't be posting on BYC much any more. My memory is bad and getting worse. No more animals to post about, and not building anything.
It has been a pleasure talking with all of you. Happy Holidays.
Are you still doing the pottery ?
Thanks for letting us know but Please stop by once in a while 🙏

Your thread helped me learn so much, thank you.

I also loved reading about your critters, and seeing your pottery.

Do stop by as you can, just to touch base. 🥰

Rule of twos....
Make it twice as big as you think you need, walk in....
Put in twice the amount of ventilation you think you need.
It will cost twice as much as you planned.
It will take twice as long to build as you thought it would.

If this is your first flock build coop first, then get chicks.
Since you built it bigger build in a in coop brooder/chicken jail.

What is an “in coop brooder and chicken jail” 😂 and what does this look like?

This is a sectioned off area of the coop. It's used for letting broody hens hatch eggs and raise chicks. It keeps other chickens from bothering her or the chicks, but she is still within their sight, and therefore still part of the flock.

When used as a chicken "jail," it is to separate a chicken who is causing problems, like bullying or attacking other birds. Again, the enclosed bird is still within sight, but out of reach.

It can be a fenced off part of the interior of the coop, or something separate and removeable, like a dog crate.

any pictures?

Well, they aren't very good at showing my set up. I was taking pictures of the chicks.

Fence to the left. I had the door open and the chicks came out to play on Momma jungle gym.

This shows the sectioned off area of the run. I didn't have a broody hen, so the chicks are on their own. They needed some space in the run separate from the older hens.
