Art, are you getting the floods in Mich ?
I hope not.
Yesterday I tried and tried to start the mini tiller.
I finally gave up and walked away.. Today I am going to try a new spark plug. If that doesn't work, I will tear the carburetor apart and put in new parts..
if that fails, I will move on to the weed wacker.. at least it runs and all I have to do is fine tune the carburetor..
the sun is shining here today and it is supposed to get up around 57F..
it is above 40F already..
Am invited out for a fish fry this afternoon.
Wanda's has a good earlybird FFF of Haddock
Salad/soup bar for $7.5o..

Lakes, rivers, streams, swamps are definitely running high, some roads covered due to much low land where I am, but no major flooding.....I live out in the boonies so not like in Detroit where all that hardscaping makes things much worse.

I remember way back when Arthur Godfrey had his radio show. He was a pilot. he had a theory about the weather. it had to do with the paved streets and parking lots and brick and cement buildings. it made a heat sink, I think he called it.. caused thermal turbulence
I can see how it could cause flooding, by not letting any water soak into the ground..
anyway, my day turned to excrement.
Annie wanted me to mow the berries away from her asparagus. so I did. just as I was almost finished , there was a loud bang and the blades stopped. GS helped me out and we found that an idler pulley was missing.
so I drove back to the patch and sure enough, it was lying right there where the bang was. as I picked it up, the garden tractor ran out of gas. So I had to hoof it a hundred yards back to the house.
can't get the mini tiller to run for more than a few putts. found out that the torsion spring is wrong on the carburetor. jury rigged it to turn in the opposite way , for now. searching the net for the correct one.
all in all, I just walked away from all the problems outside and came in and took a nap
I feel better now and will go out and see what I can get accomplished.
the mower is less than a year old.
have to see about the warranty..

what kind of eggs are those ?
It rained a little this morning, it is done, now.
I know it is done because the dog went outside.
I am giving up on the mini tiller for now. It seems like it is not passing gas through the carburetor. I have no repair manual, so I am not sure if I am putting the gaskets in properly or not..
going on the web to see if there is such a manual for these carbs..
no green here, yet..

Hey @jvls1942 ...sounds like you're a gas guy but any opinions on battery powered string trimmers?
I want one for ease of use and maintenance....my old gas one has not been used for years(long story) it could probably be fixed, but I'm over it.
Need something smaller/lighter to use occasionally.
Don't mind the short run time(20-30mins?), don't need something that'll whack a sapling, and don't want to spend $300-500. Like the option of edging with it too.
There are SO many of them, hard to choose.

I have 2 different brands of string trimmers. I needed batteries for a 18v B&D and found a trimmer that came with 2 batteries for the same $ as 2 batteries. I was surprised it does as well as it does. But long grass gets caught in it. It's great if you keep up on it. I believe they discontinued the model I have
I also have an oregon that was a freebie with a 40v chainsaw
Not much difference in what they will cut. The oregon is better made. But I haven't broken either one.
My brother swears by ryobi

I say go with whatever batteries you have

I say go with whatever batteries you have
Huh, never thought of that tack.
Have a Mikata drill/driver that's quite old, wonder if the batteries are still the same?
I remember trying to buy a new battery for an old drill and they had slightly changed the keys on battery slot so you have to buy a whole new set.
ETA: looks like my Makita drill and battery are obsolete.
