Art, you could toss a pile of extra chips right on the ground in the chicken yard.
Not enough room for a chipper dump load...and there's no vehicular access to area of my yard and my run is fully enclosed.
I will have to transfer them from the driveway to the run with a wheel barrow.

I got a new toy. yesterday I bought a second hand Brinly lawn sweeper. I pulled it around a bit with the lawn mower. I am not too impressed with it. I think the main problem is I don't have it adjusted right.
the ads say it should pick up hay..
I think the wheels are not making contact with the ground when I hit the heavy cut grass clumps..

We had a big yard when I was a kid and our dad got big lawn sweeper. I guess the idea was it was easier than raking the big yard. It seems to me we used it for years so it must have worked.

the reviews say it will pick up just about anything. from acorns to hay.
the grass I mowed was like hay. in was plenty dry.. I think the sooner you sweep the better.
today I planted another section of pole beans
then I watered them in and watered in the first ones I planted a couple of days ago.
I did a no no and watered the tomatoes in the middle of the day. it will be alright because there was a nice breeze to dry them off.. I just couldn't let them go another day without water..

Of course they did...I never trust reviews much.
Probably a delicate balance between size of what you are picking up, length of grass picking it from, and height of brushes.
Keep playing with it and hopefully you'll find that balance.
