Here are the very newest pictures, taken yesterday. The FUN part is that it's all NEARLY finished (and the construction crew promised it would be totally-done-throw-in-chicks-immediately but ran into STUFF, as can be understood in the corona virus thing)...and so now we are going to DO WHAT WE SAID WE'D NEVER DO - HAVING CHICKS IN A BROODER IN THE HOUSE...yes, go ahead, laugh. Boots is going to have them in a plastic tote in her bathroom until the really pretty, built-in brooder in the coop is sealed/painted and then aired out until no fumes. So without further ado, here are more pictures of one coop and run than you ever wanted:
Very nice. How is the roost and poop box attached to wall?

Shallots just arrived a few minutes ago so I'll be planting those later today, wish there was a little more sun or if not that then rain anyway. No artichokes though and now I'm wondering if I actually ordered them. Do I still get to blame Burpee?

Too cold to put the chicks in the run unless the sun burns through, they're mostly staying under the heat plate in the coop. Second group of 4 come in on Thursday and DP put her 8 eggs in lockdown yesterday so plenty more chicks on the way.

I was very busy moving chicks around today. Had to move buckets outside to make way for the new hatches.

Love me a bucket o' chicks! Have a great pic somewhere, can't find it.
But here's a Bin o' Chicks:

I use a bucket to move mine too, but I have to shake the bucket a little to keep them from jumping out.
Might need a deeper bucket?

Broody was pacing the divider wall when I let the flock out. So I opened her pop door and she spent quite a bit of time outside. Was afraid she quit, I even started up the bator, but she got back on nest. Whew!

I am really hoping our buff orpington chick turns out to be a good broody.
