We caught a few perch yesterday before it started to rain. We tossed them in the pond for storage for now :). It's a big stock tank so we should be able to net them out as we need them.
Boy, that brings some pings!
My Gramps had a wire mesh cage sunk in the lake at the end of the dock.
He dump his catch in there and feed them for a time before netting them out to eat.

Thought I heard peeps coming from under broody this morning.
Went back out to check later and she's off her nest eating grass in the run....
...and there's a small pip!!
Hope she just had a last walkabout before 'lockdown'.

Wow !! all this hatching going on. That is what I miss about not having chickens anymore.
today I mixed up compost. Have 6 five gallon buckets, 2 three gallon buckets, and 10 one gallon pots filled.
Have to go snatch six more buckets from the field out back.
the cement mixer experiment worked just fine. I found that a five gallon batch mixed quicker and more thoroughly.. it takes only about 5 minutes from start to in the bucket..
As I was doing this, I looked at the new roof, I decided to extend the roof all the way across the garage, I can use the extra 16 feet as a green house..

I'll keep my fingers crossed. The sound of peeps coming from an egg just slays me. :love
IKR!? Always makes my grin like mad, especially in an incubator.

I miss building stuff.
I whipped together this trellis out of some old hog panels yesterday.
Was piece of cake but recipient was thrilled.

That is an excellent design, and I shall steal it. DP wants to grow scarlet runner beans and that looks perfect!
Was easy peasy.
16' panel cut to 8' and 7'-4" lengths
(this one already cut a couple year ago for another trellis),
4 bits of heavy wire or the 'hinge',
and a 16" 2x2 notched on ends for the spreader.
Bottom ends are set at about 4-5' apart.
We set it in the bed then she filled the dirt in up about 8" deep.
