Me too or metal trash cans work too.

Problem is, if you use the metal trash cans outdoors, the lids may leak when it rains because of holes to attach the handle. They don't make them like they used to.

This is another reason for large roof overhangs -- dry storage right next to the coop.

That's what caulking us for. Ha ha. Seriously could use waterproof caulk inside

Gonna guess it's a potpourri heater.
Not sure how hot it might get or if it would keep water thawed in extreme climates.
