Helpful hints for building coops

It's really exciting watching the progress. Can't wait until it's finished. Mistints are a great bargain for small projects. I'm not going to ask what colour you got, I'm going to wait until the "big reveal".

Just laid out the frame for the skylight. Disregard the supports laying at an angle, they are to keep the boards off the dirt while i build.

Got it caulked before it rained, but not screwed in place. Covered with a tarp. Man, i was hoping to finish it today. Still need to apply the adhesive and the glass. Measured everything twice and marked where it will go on the roof. I think i will work on finishing the rest of the roof asap, so it will stay dry underneath. Then i can work on the walls

Today i went to Eden, NC and bought a trio of Ameraucanas to teach the guineas to return to the coop. They may be the first inhabitants!

Is it heavy? How are you going to get it up there?

Not really, made of 2 boards rough cut from the lumber mill 5/4" x4"x 10' and a bunch of small skids i got free at Lowes plus the two pieces of glass. We will lean it up against the back of the coop and push it up.

About 40 odd pounds. It was a chore and we had to do it his way, but it is up and nailed in place!

Before going further might be a good idea to run the hose over it and make sure it's water tight.
