I'm thinking about buying a batting cage to keep the hawks from getting to my future chickens. Is it overkill?

This is the one I'm considering. The 55' x 14'

Will you buy the frame too?
Should be plenty against hawks.
Might want to start a new thread asking about various netting for hawk deterrence,
more will see it then.

Oh, and... Welcome to BYC! @coltcarson

coltcarson, frame is not included.
If you are in snow country, you either have to
really beef up the frame or else take the cover off
each fall.. it WILL cave in.
I would check around for prices of similar fabric
or wire chicken netting.
Chicken wire rusts fairly quickly as the top of a run. Been there, done that. I use welded wire.

After supper i went out and pulled a bunch of weeds. And i noticed all of the bean plants that came up inside the 6 foot fence were completely devoured. I heard something bang against the fence the other night. Not sure if it was a deer jumping over, or a rabbit trying to go under.
