Yes, I thought of that a few times.
right now I have no chickens. just one guinea rooster and a pair of geese.
got rid of everything for the winter.
.
about 50 meaties in there would make short work of any vegetation; eh?
....jiminwisc.....
yes they would.. and a few layers to tear up the ground

Well the guys showed up around 1:30 and left around 4. No wonder it is taking so long!

I can just imagine their conversation before they show up..
"we have about a one hour job to do toady...do you think we can get er done in about 2 1/2 hours ??"

well I tried it and it worked.. I couldn't find the heat gun, but I took a hair dryer out to the shop and leaned it against the stove pipe for about 10 minutes.
then I lit a piece of paper and the stove started drawing immediately.. no smoke in the room at all.. it really doesn't take much heat to make it work..

I let the stove go with just one good load of scrap pieces of oak and some shavings. in about less than an hour It was way warm enough to work.
the shop area is about 16ft x 22ft..
only the ceiling and 3 outside walls are insulated. the partition wall is not. it should be, though.

took the puppy (Spot) to the vet today.
Rabies, Distemper and Lymes and a quick check up.. $130.oo. He better turn out to be a super dog..

PS. your builders are probably going to want a Christmas bonus.and time off.:lau

No bonus unless hell freezes over!

be careful about the hell freezing over. it has been holding in the teens for high temps for a few days..
did you try warming your stove pipe and then lighting a piece of crumbled up paper ?
I was going to set a small ceramic heater next to the pipe, but the cord got pulled off somehow..

I am going to try it again today, just to make sure it wasn't a fluke ..

going shopping at HomDpo today. I have a list..

Annie is taking me to breakfast this morning.
Hmmm, I wonder what she wants ????

Hey Jim,
The stove is burning better since the chimney sweep came. Thanks for thinking of me!
So i had a good time in Lynchburg, got my rabbits and a winter jacket. I wanted to shop more but traffic was heavy and it was snowing. So i got the groceries hubby wanted at Kroger and got out of town. The roads were not bad until i was trying to go uphill on the dirt road before ours. I stopped, put on the 4WD and trucked on home.

we just got home from town hit a couple of stores. I think I remembered everything I was going to get.. forgot to make a list.
but we didn't forget the glazer donuts..

got 5 gal of gas for the tractor. our snow has not started yet. supposed to get about 3 inches this time.

Cappy, you got just the right amount of snow. not enough to have to shovel, but it still covers everything nicely.

got up to 25F today. no wind. this I can live with..

Yeah Jim , but we got more since then and it is supposed to snow more tomorrow....My veggies are covered in snow.

So i am still pondering the problem of frozen waterers. No sun for 2 days= no solar heat. Compost not working up heat.
Hubby went online and found a heater someone made of a concrete block, ceramic tile, and extension cord and a little gadget you plug in that you screw a light bulb into. Looks cheap and very possible. Just need to get to a hardware store.
