Helpful hints for building coops

we did not get the frost they promised us last night. but it will come..
I made hamburgers for Randy and me tonight.
couldn't find the buns. so we had gourmet sliders .. hamburger on Hawaiian rolls..
we don't have many,, if any,, local swaps any more.. the 4H one was abandoned a few years ago.. the rest of them are 40 or more miles away..
I have my work table all set for potting plants out in the sun porch. I bought two dog crate pans to set the pots on. just in case I spill water and to catch what drains out of the bottom of the pots..

This was a 3 hour drive one way, but well worth it. Had a great time but very tired. One hour of sleep last night.
 
well, today is Sunday, find a football game and take a nap in the recliner..
the last swap I went to was about 3 hours away. cold and rainy and I didn't buy or sell anything.. I never take anything to sell.
didn't freeze last night. got into the low 40's.. nice and sunny this morning.
checked on the scions I have in dirt. they don't look promising ..
I have better luck in just plain water..

Some of us have coop Hopes in the future but enjoy keeping up with what folks are up to.... I always enjoy seeing someone more ambitious than me get something done.
I seem to always be waiting on something, funds is a common waiting on here.... but ambition, timing and co-operation from family members have also been considerations for projects.... or maybe I just want too many things.
 
well alicia, if you like people with ambition, you should have been here today.
I don't know where it came from, but I got a spurt of ambition and did some work outside.
I picked up the tools/junk in the yard and mowed some weeds that I never got around to all summer. rototilled the new row for the grapes.. cut a bunch of elderberry branches and trimmed them and got about 3 dozen shoots potted in two pots.. I will transplant them in a few weeks if they sprout roots..
I never tried green elderberry shoots before.
I cleaned a sheltered spot for the old rider mower and put it away for the winter..

Jim you amaze me! On a good weekend I move a few chickens around and/or practice a little chicken math, this weekend it was addition. I drove 70ish miles up the road for a free dorking rooster, oh and hatched out 18 babies..... that means next week will have to be subtraction with some of the extra roos going to freezer camp. I also need to build a small shelter In one of the pens and a few nesting boxes. So many things and so few hours on the weekends. Lol
