I'm on a roll!
Feed and bedding procured and stored....
.....then decided to swap out old bedding for new.
Spread some of the old bedding over the new chips in run,
put the rest in fed bags and will spread in runs over the next couple weeks.
Glad to have all that done!

It's so funny that they don't want to step on the new bedding,
you'd think I spread hot coals in there

I know, its like, whoa, who did this to our coop? Then they stir it up like rototillers and it looks nasty all over .

It'll take awhile for it to look 'nasty', I totally changed out all the shavings, twice a year....and use poop boards, so it's dry. I actually save some of the old bedding to sprinkle over the new so it 'looks' more like what they're used to and they'll walk on it...kinda works, still feels way different.
They'll get used to it.

It's like a fresh pillow case.. you gotta fold it, punch it and sleep on it a couple of times before it feels right again..
It is official, this morning I unplugged the two window AC's .
shut and locked the windows.

True, great analogy!!
Was thinking this morning, not only does it look and feel weird,
the shavings might a bit sharp on the feet, they are very 'crunchy'.

good Sunday evening,
today I cut two of the apple air layers loose.
brought them in and put them into 1 gallon pots.
they didn't look too great. these were the very first two that I did.. hopefully the rest will look better, ie, have lots of roots started in them..

Ok so I didn't make any progress on poultry related things, but I did get some spaghetti sauce canned.View attachment 1548494 15 pints, 15 quarts and whatever size the big one is, quart and a half maybe?
How'd you get that big one in the water bath....or maybe it's for right now and not 'canned'?

I ended up with grandma's Big canner or will hold 16 pints, double decker and I put that big one in the center. I also inherited a tomatoes strainer, it's a hand crank do-hicky that all I have to do is wash and quarter the tomatoes and it separates the juice and pulp from the seeds and skin. Makes my life so much easier! Otherwise I would still be peeling.
