No snow, but Bob had to come and plow the driveway open.. drifting snow..
more snow Tue/Wed and then again Fri/Sat.
I decided I have to get Ollie moved from in front of the garage. It looks like the snow is starting to slide off of the garage roof. If it lets go, Ollie will be buried until about July.
(Ollie is my Oliver tractor)
Today is Annie's birthday. the weather man noted that on this day in 1945 there was a record setting snow storm. the day Annie was born.. Her mother said that she shoveled snow so that they could get the car out to go to the hospital..

I got the turkey feeder built and installed.

Okay, we just got home safely from the new property. We drove past an insane amount of downed trees, slides, and downed power lines when we on Oregon Hwy 38. I have never seen anything like it. There was so much damage to the roads, lines, homes, and the forest in general, it looked like a war zone. Often there was no more than 10 feet between sections of trees, soil and rock, and power lines. Mostly it was trees that had just snapped off, but some were uprooted and took their neighbors with them.

I think it was caused by very heavy snow in an area that only sees a little bit once in a while. The trees just couldn't handle it.

I salute the emergency folks that were still out there clearing the road. I wish I could have gotten some decent pictures but it wasn't a good idea to block barely clear roadway.

Sounds serious, i hope no one was killed or injured! Glad you and yours are ok.

good mid day,
had 4 more inches of snow last night.
that should be it for awhile..
I have Ollie thawed out enough to start him.
but now I went and jammed the bendix gear against the flywheel.
DD is bringing her small snow thrower out and some tools. I hope I can get at the starter to take it off. If all goes as hoped, I should be able to start the tractor today.
we need some above freezing days to get the snow to slide off of these roofs.
there is all of 2 feet of snow built up..
I am not too worried about the roofs caving in. .

My fist daffodil is opening up!

our daffodils are still under 3 feet of snow.
today DD Barby brought her snow thrower out and dug a path to the starter on Ollie,
we ended up taking the starter completely off the tractor. It acted like the switch wasn't working.. the bendix was not jammed.. took the started switch off and put the jumper cables directly onto the starter. nada, nothing, nicht..
I am going to take it in to O"Reily's and have it bench tested..
I can't believe a starter can go bad just like that, no warning, no nothing..
DD thinks my charger was lying to me when it said 100% charged.. maybe so..
the temp was 23F with a nice warm sun.
once the sun went behind the trees in the wind break, the 23F didn't feel too warm anymore..
lots of people are experiencing water seeping into their ceilings because of the snow buildup.. It melts and then ice forms in the soffit vents , plugging the air flow and causing frost in the attic. then it melts and leaks through ceiling..
