Molpet, around here there is no pressure on the phone repair guys. there are only three full timers. They don't kill themselves, and one of them is clueless.
My BIL and my brother are both retired from the phone company. I worked in engineering for six years. My wife was one of the women that took problem calls.
Last week our phone went out, after a thunder storm. We have two lines. only one goes out. the genious was so proud that he had us up and back running after six hours. only problem was, he "fixed" the line that wasn't down..
Annie called her brother. He got hold of somebody and the line was repaired within minutes. He said that our problem is repairable with the flick of a switch. All of the old timers know this, the ones they have now don't have a clue.
we had a TV cable guy run some wires inside our house once.
Our basement ceiling is finished with tiles.
this guy stapled two black cables all the way across the ceiling, in two different directions, diagonally.
I called his boss.
long story short, it is not like that anymore.

ah, it's different here. They only get so long and if it takes longer they have to stop and call... which is a big waste of time.
Yes the new guys don't seem to know ... I have to tell them the 3 usual j boxes the problem is in... used to be I could drive down the road and find a guy working in the suspect box and he would check it. My line is on the outside terminal strip and would get bumped when they work on an inner strip. Now I have to put in a request and wait a couple of days.

zing !! I didn't catch the munchies joke until just now when I read it again.
thump on the head for me..:he:smack
I just finished framing up the second window well. I am too worn out to mix up concrete for it right now..
I never noticed this before, but the phone guys have wires lying on the ground, stapled to the siding , wires going every which way...
there is no longer pride in one's work anymore, is there ?

You are lucky if they even show up to work.

lack of common sense has a lot to do with it.
we gave the telephone number of the line that was not working. I know that both lines are located in the same pedestal. Had he/she (yes one of the technicians is a female) checked the work order and the telephone number, they would not have "repaired" the working line..
In grade school they taught us Comprehension of What was Read..
today I am going to have GS help me pour the concrete for the window well.
He doesn't know it yet, but I am going to be helping him.. Yesterday I whacked my hip by kneeling down and standing up too many times.. Had periods of discomfort during the night.
Annie is getting her hip/hips replaced soon.
We can't both do it at the same time. First I will nurse her, then it will be her turn to baby me..

The window well is concrete. GS did the bulk of the work. I only advised him and showed him how. I am a great helper..
there are two more on the East end of the house. they do not give us any trouble with being the metal kind. but the concrete looks so nice I might just do those two also.

So glad that Frankie came back and snapped out of whatever was making her feel off.

We got the main work on the front horse-panel fence and I have to say it looks great. Tomorrow we'll finishing hammering in the staples and the handyman will be making the human gate. We've worked on the fence all day the last two days and it's been so satisfying to see it go up. Also tiring, I've slept like a brick.

It sounds like you are enjoying yourselves.
It doesn't seem like work then.
I actually enjoy concrete work, but it just about kills me to do it lately.
hard to believe that just a few years ago I poured a twelve by eight foot slab all by myself. time takes it's toll.
I am shopping for a tall elongated seat toilet.
I am finding several online, from different stores. the only trouble is the specs don't give the actual heights. I am getting the general heights of standard, 14"/
then there is chair/16" to 18".
with Annie's upcoming hip replacement, she is going to need a tall toilet. Hell, I already need one. LOL
either I am getting taller, or our toilet is shrinking..

Glad things are going well, we need pics you know.
Did the old house sell?
Maybe I missed it, only remember the offer.
