Molpet, around here there is no pressure on the phone repair guys. there are only three full timers. They don't kill themselves, and one of them is clueless.
My BIL and my brother are both retired from the phone company. I worked in engineering for six years. My wife was one of the women that took problem calls.
Last week our phone went out, after a thunder storm. We have two lines. only one goes out. the genious was so proud that he had us up and back running after six hours. only problem was, he "fixed" the line that wasn't down..
Annie called her brother. He got hold of somebody and the line was repaired within minutes. He said that our problem is repairable with the flick of a switch. All of the old timers know this, the ones they have now don't have a clue.
we had a TV cable guy run some wires inside our house once.
Our basement ceiling is finished with tiles.
this guy stapled two black cables all the way across the ceiling, in two different directions, diagonally.
I called his boss.
long story short, it is not like that anymore.
