good morning ,
Cappy, Do you have to drive very far to the swap ? My last swap was 90 miles away. the only reason I went was to meet up with a few friends from the Cheeseheads thread..
There are no swaps locally anymore; for years.
I have two very good leads for rhubarb divisions.
I am at the point of, I'll believe it when I see it
My rhubarb seeds from Amazon never showed up. I finally requested a refund..

Some swaps are 45 miles, some are two hour drive, the big swap I love is about 3 hours drive.

I do that too. only now with the days getting shorter there isn't a lot of daylight left, then.
I was turning my big compost pile with the tractor when all of a sudden the loader hydraulics quit. I looked for a blown hose. No such luck.. I have had this happen once before.
The splines on the shaft to the hyd pump sheared off. Just a hunch at this point, but I am pretty sure.. big job to take the whole loader apart and off of the tractor to get at the front mounted pump.
I think I will take the loader off and use the tractor without the loader for a while. It will take some time to have a new shaft made anyhow.
that to do list just doesn't get any shorter.
this morning I finished weeding the three grape vines and got them staked up. they do need some pruning and shaping to form the main trunk.

Wooo! Caught up! Yeah Aart was right, when I was on I was at a gardening thread. Been busy around here, we processed 6 rabbits so far and got to use our new vac sealer thingy. Tomorrow I'll be freezing the tomatoes that I haven't been able to shove in my face yet. Once I can get enough together I'll start canning.

I have learned how to use the heck out of zucchini. Zucchini boats, zucchini fritters, zucchini chips, and cream of zucchini soup so far. Going to make some chocolate zucchini muffins tomorrow. Or make some more zuc soup base and freeze it, or more zuc chips. I've learned to make compost tea out of the crazy growing borage I planted to bring in the pollinators that has been trying to take over the raised beds. I've canned beets both pickled and plain. I have lots of dill but planted my cucumbers late so the dill and the cucumbers are going to ships that pass in the night.

But the biggest news is that one of my Easter Eggers, Glyness, (my current avatar) started laying 4 days ago and what's more, laid 2 eggs on her first day! She's only 4 months old so I'm so pleased with her! The first 4 were pretty small but the one from today was just about a normal sized egg. They're all a pretty turquoise color and she sings her heart out every time. Her sister (Koraline) and a OB pullet (Amilia) join in on the downbeat. All three of them all have really bright red combs so I am betting they'll all be laying soon. DP and I were wondering if the vigorous singing might encourage the other pullets into laying a little sooner than they might otherwise.

We haven't had any real rain here since the middle of June so I do a lot of watering these days. My smart DP suggested we drill a small hole in a few 5 gallon buckets to make watering the new trees and shrubs easy without wasting water so we're doing that now.

Wanted to get caught up here but I'm ready for bed. Night all.
