Helpful hints for building coops

"Half Monitor" is the roof. "Clerestory" is the space inside the roof created by the windowed half monitor design. Its a "churchy" term from the medieval period. But both are used essentially interchangeably as the words become muddied by common usage. Clerestory sounds better, I'll grant. and your architect will understand it - but your roofer may not.

No mentor, came up with the design all by myself...did hire a couple guys to do most the installation cause I'm a weak chick.

I meant for "clerestory". I've yet (admittedly, this is anecdote, not data) to meet a roofer other than yourself that knew the word. I learned of it in "Medieval History in Art", rather than my architectural drafting classes.

Ah, not sure where I learned that term...could have been drafting class 40 years ago....or just one of the construction books I've poured thru over the years.

My chicken coop was like that originally, But the used windows rotted out after a few years.
so I just built a tin roof over the whole thing.
Aart, your place has the white Christmas look. but enough snow already, eh ?
we do not have but a thin coat of snow. Enough to make it a white Christmas.
Plenty of cold to keep it from melting,
Having a subdued Christmas meal tomorrow. Just the five of us that live here and one Daughter might drop in.

This is about the only real snow fall we've had so far this season.
Up to 6" this morning and another inch or three expected today,
depending on where the lake effect happens.
Time to wrassle the mower off the tractor and the thrower on.
Not looking forward to throwing snow off 'warm' ground, should be an adventure, I've got until midday sunday before the temps rise to 40's.
