Zone 5 and kale usually overwinter. But it trys to bolt. Flower buds look and taste like little broccoli.
Deer ate mine this winter for the first time. Also ate the blue spruce they never bothered before either.
Between the deer and rabbits I lost a lot of flowers last year.

Cappy, you are not such an OLD goat. :lau
We might drift, but are still there for advice about chickens and coops.
Deer are very fond of Hostas . I keep telling my brother to plant them in the woods where he bow hunts..
I am not doing anything outside, yet. My notebook is filling up with sketches and notes of things I want to make this summer. All small projects. Like a silverware divider in the kitchen, a couple of custom wooden beer cases for my Grolsch beer bottles.. I think I could sell those..
soon it will be dry enough for me to venture on longer walks down the road.
My range is very short, yet..

good morning, today is looking like it's going to be nice and warm.
I am going to take my first walk down the driveway.. I will use the walker . It has a seat on it that I can rest on if I need to. I have to walk a lot more..
I would like to plane a few oak boards for the projects I have in mind.

Walker with seats are sure handy, my mom had one she would go up and down the driveway.

Yes, my hostas get eaten every year. I had all variegated ones, so I tried a solid green plant. They were just as happy to eat that one, 50 feet from our front door!

I walked. Made it to the mailbox and back. Our driveway is about a city block long.
Had a slight discomfort in the new hip. but it is settled down already.
I used the walker, just in case.
I did not do anything else outside. It was still quite chilly and I didn't wear a jacket ..
Glad to hear you are making progress Jim.
