we are not lacking for rain. Nor are we lacking for frost. It froze hard last night. I covered some plants and put a toteful into the garage.
the apple and plum trees were all done blossoming, so I don't think they were damaged.
Cappy, I think your hubby shut off the water so you would take a break.

No Jim, he really does want a hot shower. He's not into cold ones

Good Monday morning,
I kept holy the sabboth day, mainly because of intermittent rain.
My asparagus roots were sprouting in the refrigerator. I took them outside and put them into pots until I can get the strip of ground ready for them..
I lost four of the tiniest tomato plants to the frost/freeze. I have duplicate of them in larger sizes.
It looks like a couple of the cherry tree cuttings might be getting roots. Well, at least there are two that have leaves forming at the tops.
I got the main root planted in a large tote.so far it is holding it's own. There are buds all the way up the trunk..

Making progress on the latest coop! I cut the hole for the nest box today and got most of the box made.

My sister gave my chickens a present -- their own, miniature Dubia Roach colony (she raises Dubias for her Bearded Dragon and sell them to other reptile keepers).

I have to find a place outside for them -- in a shady, secure place where they won't be knocked over. When the coop is done I'll be able to keep them in the storage area. For now they're in the laundry room, which is non-optimal.

I don't know what a dubia roach is, but it sound creepy. I'm sure the chickens love them, though.
Yesterday I started working up the area for 20 asparagus crowns. ran out of gas with the tiller. went back to the house and took a break. Had an email from DD. she located a guy who had potted Zone 4 cherry trees. I called him. Told him to save two for me and we took right off. It was a 35 mile ride. got two bing type cherry trees, potted,, $25/each.
I could sure use a handyman.
