I had requested that the rain hold off until midnight, but it's pelting down so hard now that the tv went off.
I got the last of the welded wire on the end of the new run, put a handle on the door and a hasp. Also finished putting up chicken wire on one side of the barnyard. Ran out of zip ties , so I need to get more.
I have started building a nest box for a friend of mine that likely has more chickens than I do, but doesn't have a single nest box. Her chicken math is out of control. I have been teaching her to use tools and she is coming along. Loves my compressor and pneumatic stapler for attaching hardware cloth. I took it with me on the last visit I made to her place. To make matters worse, she is always low on funds so we are using as much recycled materials as we can.

I remember having satellite TV and it going out during storms. Now we have no TV but the cell-based internet lags if the storm is heavy enough.

I just got soaked because I was sitting out in the chicken run, reading and observing the see-don't-touch process while waiting for dusk so I could shut everyone up.

I heard the rain coming and had just enough time to shoe the babies into their coop. As I tried to get the Splits into theirs it fell like a faucet. I retreated under the picnic fly over the Little Monitor Coop, but after a bad hailstorm a couple months ago it's not very waterproof.

My son came out with an umbrella to rescue me. My other son will be sent out in a raincoat to shut everyone up safely.

If it had held of 15-20 more minutes they'd have all cooped themselves up, I think.

We were at Harbor Freight getting the electric metal shears and spotted this on the refurbished table:

Insufficient for hardware cloth on the coop, of course, but MUCH better than the hand staplegun for stapling down tarps. I have so many popped staples on the brooder from the racking when we moved it.

Just get longer staples!

The roof on the playhouse is finished, with metal at the seam on the peak. And the plastic is screwed to the frame I made for it. I need to take some photos.
Got more chicken wire attached to the fence around the barnyard after my neighbor brought over the zip ties. Still more to be done though.

I have a 1/4" crown stapler. Perfect for tacking wire down.
I am getting caught up with planting. Now I am going into maintenance mode. Much more relaxing. today I am going to work on the grapes. I weeded them a little, Now they just need a shot of fish tea and need to be tied to the arbor .
hot hot hot, but we are getting enough rain so it is pretty lush and green.
the tomatoes are coming onto the vines already. I have the plants all staked.
had a deer right outside the kitchen window yesterday. I hope she didn't find the beets and beans in the raised beds.
I want to get a dog. The boss says no..

Good.

The ones I put in with the stupid hand staplegun are popping. I'm off tomorrow so I'll try the new one then.

Practice on a scrap piece of wood. Start with the pressure at 80 and if they are not sinking go up a bit. Sunk to deep? Turn the air pressure down a smidge. I find it takes a bit of practice with a new air stapler to find the best pressure for THAT gun.

It will also vary a bit if the wood is hard, old stuff or new "squishy" wood.
