Helpful hints for building coops

Today i need to go pick up a load of hay. Thankfully not raining, and not so hot as yesterday.

A lot of people are going to be surprised when
they wake up to find their decorations gone.
One year my brother and I picked up tossed out
christmas trees and took them to the lake where we
were ice fishing. We poked a lot of them down through
the holes to create structure for the fish to hide in.
IDK if it made any difference..
when I had my big truck, in the fall I would pick up
bags of leaves along the curb in the city. It was easy to
pick up 40 bags on my way through town.
If my daughters were along with me, they would get so
embarrassed. lolol they were in jr high..

Today hubby felled tree number 6. I am so totally tired, cold, and hurting. Bad part is, there are at least two more trees he want to cut down. One is a gigantic poplar tree. Not going to even think about that for now. I think a nap is in order.

Never did get a nap. Tomorrow the guy is coming to check our defunct well pump. I miss water.

a couple of weeks ago we had an insect proof
well cap put on our well casing. In the process
the pump had to be pulled part way up. by doing
so, it cleaned the screen on the pump. now it works
like new again..
for a couple of days we were making coffee
with bottled water..

We don't drink coffee . We got water from our water storage containers that collect water from the roof of the house, to flush toilets and water animals. It was still a pain. You cam bet i am getting a bath tonight! The guys came and fixed the pump. The people that had the house before us put pure bleach down the well and corroded the fittings. The only thing holding the pump from falling down the well was the electrical wire! So $500 later, it is all fixed. Guy said he remembered drilling this well and it produced like 25 gallons a minute. Hit an underground stream or something. Said we would never run out of water.

They say to shock wells with bleach regularly if a bacterial issue. I wonder what is supposed to be used

There's certain kind of bleach to be used, they system also needs to be flushed properly after a time period when the bleach is distributed thru all the pipes and allowed to sit for a time.

The pump guy put bleach down our well. but a couple of
hours later we had to run the water for a couple of
hours to remove the bleach. we have had bleach put
through our well at least 5 or 6 times. No problems
as a result.. we have our water tested every year.
It turned cold here. never getting above 35F. and
snow a little every day. just enough to keep the
roads slippery. It is gradually mounting up
to a few inches.
we will drive on the driveway and pack it down
for a good hard snowpack base. makes it better for
plowing later on.

I had a bath last night, and another this morning. Felt marvelous!
It has been raining all day so far, i guess the goats will be staying inside today. And myself, if it doesn't quit for a while.
