fuzzi, get your goat fences ready well in advance. If your fences will hold water, they might hold goats.
the first thing goats do in a new fence is search for holes and places where they can squeeze under the wire.
we have no animals or pets anymore. but we live in a natural zoo. yesterday there was a rabbit under the apple tree, turkeys in the field, two big deer with two fawns on the lawn, red squirrels all over and a large black ferril cat just showed up.

I'm starting on serious research very soon.

I just dragged a goat up the hill to the barn. So I got really hot. Then I went in the barn ( where the hay is), and gave the goat fresh water and hay. She looks to me like she is getting ready to kid. The new owners are supposed to pick her up Monday afternoon.
Oh, and the hay and heat made me have a horrible coughing jag.

this is something I am trying out.
let's call it an experiment.
I planted 44 buttercup squash seeds in this 2' x 3' tub full of compost. when I planted them it was actually too late in the spring. the seeds were old and I expected that none of them would sprout.
well, 25 of them did sprout. this is five weeks later and the plants are starting to blossom. apparently the plants are not the vining type. probably a bush type ? most of them are growing straight up and are about a foot tall.

I will let you know what happens later on.
