Hemp bedding

Is hemp bedding okay to use with just hatched ducks? We raised a wild brood with pine shavings and they were eating it so then we went to puppy pads. This brood is with mom in a hutch.

As long as you don't give them ZigZag papers, and matches.. JK
Personally I have not used such bedding, but if the ducks were eating pine shavings, what is to stop them from eating the hemp. I personally would choose long strand bedding like hay, or straw.
