A friend of mine has a 4 month old chicken hen that was attacked by a fox about two weeks ago. The fox started to carry her away and the kids scared it so the fox dropped her. She hasn’t been able to walk since and she lays on her side all the time. she keeps her left leg tucked up beside her and when I let her legs hang the left leg crosses over the right. I’m wondering if maybe she has a problem with her hip. What do you all think? she is eating and drinking fine, but is not laying eggs yet

I did not get an alert via email, but did have a notification when I came onto the site. So maybe sort of worked??
I will attach a splinting manual which also explains how to check for fractures, might help. You also might try putting her in a chicken sling to keep her more upright and comfortable, you'll have to experiment. Legs would be in a more normal position but not required to hold weight. But if there is a fracture up high, depending on where the sling hits her it might be painful. I will attach some examples below, they are usually set up so that the feet just touch the floor but the bird doesn't have to put weight on them. If it's fractured up near the hip, those kinds of breaks often will not heal without pins (surgery) to hold everything in place, and an xray would be needed in order to determine if it was possible. Is she able to move the leg at all?

Thank you, I will try that! yeah, she can move her legs. One seems stronger than the other. Also the left eye seems kind of lazy.
