Sorry to hear that your hen was attacked, but glad that she is on the mend and you have access to and can afford vet care.

Unfortunately, vet care is not always an option for most of us. I know that this thread is long (12pages and counting) but the OP has stated several times that seeking vet care is not an option. This bird has also been on a course of antibiotics and she is being lovingly cared for by the OP and her young attentive assistant the best they can. Hopefully she is on the way to making a full recovery.

I'm rooting for your hen and the OP's as well!

Her eating a bit today was good! Getting to go outside, even just for a little while was even better! Sometimes they need to be able to get "out" just like we do, it seems to brighten the mood a bit.
Great job on getting the eye cleared up pus, that must feel better.

I didn't realize you had other injured birds. Can you get a photo of the green-gritty wounds? Any chance that the green is from the Hen Healer (did you put that on her?).

I have no clue what happened to my other hen.
Here’s a picture I took, it looks healed but just has that green stuff. I’m thinking it’s pus but when I tried to squeeze it, nothing.
The picture is kinda blurry. I posted a clearer picture on here but I think it’s lost. I’ll post it again.

I washed her slash wounds and put ointment. And that was it.

Did the vet not give you pain medicine? The reason I'm asking is I'm a bit confused on what pain meds a bird can have.
 
You can safely give an 81mg asprin if the bird isn't actively bleeding heavily.
Iv'e also given a very,very small amount of benzocaine mixed with an areosolised hydrocortisone in a hen with severe prolapse issues but the latter isn't reccomended.
My gran would make a weak nutmeg tea to dab on wounds, tried it on myself and it does indeed numb.
I know you didn't ask me, but that's never stopped me lol! :)

Lol, im glad I made you laugh!
The biggest reason most folks who have had birds for a while at least don't immediately treat pain is the shock factor.
I don't do anything besides taking care of immediate issues cleaning, blood stoppage etc until im sure they aren't actively in shock because they hide even more potential injury in that state.
Pain medication blurs that line even more for both sides and can lead to more problems since they have a huge drive to hide injury anyway.
Throw in shock and something to dull pain and you could have a hot mess and no recourse.

I just checked back to see how your girl was doing- both hen and your sweet daughter. I skipped to last page but it seems the original hurt hen is hanging in there and her pal here has a little infection or bruising, right? Just wanted you and your daughter to know that some people you’ve never met really do care enough about your little birds to check in and see how they’re doing. Pulling for you all! Also, seems as if you’re raising a very cool young lady. I have one too- she’s all grown out there making me proud. But I was thinking about your daughter caring for this hurt hen. We all know how time consuming and mentally taxing that can be. She deserves to be Recognized for that. This is a young girl with a good heart it seems :) good job mama :)
