Hen crowing - does it get louder and more like rooster crows?

My very sweet 15-month old Dominique hen named Poppy started trying to crow about 1 month ago. Wasn't sure what it was initially but I posted a video and one of the wonderful members here told me what it was.

I'm not allowed to have a rooster. And she doesn't sound anything like a rooster. See video. It's actually so cute and amusing. She doesn't do it everyday. And when she does it'll be like 4-5 times in a row and then that's it for a few days. She still lays eggs and is in no other way rooster-like.

My question to you all with crowing hens is if this is the extent of her crowing sounds? Or does it get louder and more frequent? And will it start sounding more like a rooster cockadododoo?

The rooster I just now rehomed did the chicken song up until 20 weeks he is doing both. Crazy unique girl and you know she is because she gives you eggs. There must be one she is taking lessons from close by.

Do you have any roosters in your flock?
No rooster in my flock. Just 4 hens. And she's never even been around a rooster so it's so funny how mother nature works that they know how to 'crow'!

Poppy is top hen but is the most benevolent leader...she never pecks or chases. She's one of the 2 smaller birds and buddies with the lowest on the pecking order. She walks around with the air of confidence and has the respect of all and no one ever challenges her.

Aww. I had a pullet that crowed, and sounded like a roo 🤣.
I think she will mostly stay like what she sounds like now. But that is a supper pretty bird.
Thank you. She is a true sweetheart. Wonderful if her crows stay sweet and silly! But either case she has a forever home here. But it would just be easier to not have to explain to neighbors that 'no, I really do not have a rooster!'

Oh wow a rooster doing the chicken egg song!

It's weird huh? She's never been around a rooster and there's none nearby that we can hear from our house.

My barred rock hen did exactly this. Also the top lady in the flock at the time.

It always stayed pathetic and cute sounding and never became obsessive or relentless.

But is definitely hilarious, great job capturing it on video! :love

There are documented cases of hens changing into roosters. Even as far as their combs and waddles get bigger, they start growing sickle feathers( the long tail feathers) and some even attempt mating with other hens. Although they don’t grow and reproductive organs, a hen can become a rooster by all other means. They adopt the behavior and mannerisms of a rooster. It’s an awesome natural wonder. So it looks like Poppy was such a good alpha hen, she became the alpha rooster.
