Hen has been sitting on the rest for 8 hours?

HappyHens - if she's fluffing up and not getting off the nest, she is probably broody. My girls all steal eggs when they go broody - they all like to lay in the same nest, so sometimes they'll let the other girls into the nest with them, and just roll their eggs under her. I make sure to take mine off the nest twice a day just to put them in front of some food and water and get a little fresh air. But for the most part, I let them work it out. I don't have a rooster, so don't have to worry about chicks. For my buff orpingtons, their "broody" lasts about 3 weeks.
