Hello! I would really appreciate any help I could get.
Yesterday, I noticed that my little Sultan hen (Frenchie) had major drinking problems. Every time she took a sip, she immediately swung her head backwards onto her back. I had to hold her to prevent her from completely falling over! I read that this happens to geese/ducks often- but chickens? The only known cause it that the flock may have not had any water for a day because of it leaking out (we needed to screw the top on better). I read that when chickens go without water for a day and then drink too fast...this sort of thing can happen. Read this article if you are unaware of what I'm talking about: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/gosling-backflips-over-when-drinking-water.202915/.
I'm really worried now because she has stopped trying to drink all together, and is just eating snow (constantly). It's obvious that she's thirsty- but I know that snow won't hydrate her well. What can I do? Thank you for any responses.
