Hen has white fluid coming from vent-HELP!!

IDK. I think in your case the prolapse is the biggest issue. It might be infection. See if you can get the prolapse under control. Hoepfully everything turns out well.

She is still hanging in there- she eats oatmeal w/ yogurt mixed in. She doesn't seem to be drinking much- I soaked her for the 2nd time last night- the prolapse seems worse after I do that though- maybe I should stop soaking her bottom in warm water? I put honey on her vent- I read that somewhere else. By last night the prolapse wasn't as large- only about cherry size. She still seems in pretty good spirits. Also there is not nearly as much white stuff dripping from her vent- do you think she might be getting better? I tried to push the prolapse in last night and she just strains it right back out. Should I be giving her antibiotics in her water and if so where do they sell it? Please advise how to get this prolapse under control! Thank you so much! I checked her also, and still can't feel any egg, although she made herself a nest in her isolation coop, and was turning and turning around and picking at the straw like she wanted to lay an egg.

hello teris,i just treated a prolapse hen,i washes her butt, put honey on her prolapse, pushed it back in,held it in for a minute, put hem.cream all around her vent.i did this 3 times a day.i also kept her in a cage with a cover over it.she was fine in 3 days.she also layed 2 eggs during this and the prolapse still healed.im not sure what antibiotics you should put her on.hopefully someone else can help you with that.good luck.

When my hens have had prolapses, they always have white gunk coming from the vent. Just keep her separated, keep the area washed, and put Prep H on the vent, if she likes it or not. It helps with swelling. When the swelling goes down, sometimes the prolapse will go in by itself. This can take a few days. Just make sure she has food and water, and keep her area she's in dark, to discourage egg laying, so the vent can heal. Hope this helps.

Thank you, Thank you for the advice!! I will keep soaking her in warm water, and I have a prescription hemmorroid cream that I put on her before, but she started to struggle....is this what hens do when they get prep. H on their vent, too? That's why I only put it on once. I'll keep putting the honey on, and the rx hemm. cream. Thank you all so much!

Maybe therx hem. cream is stronger, but I put it on her again last night, and then honey, and she didn't struggle last night. The prolapse also seems quite a bit smaller-small cherry size now- Maybe she IS getting better- YEAH!!!!
