Hen House water?

This is our first year with chickens. We have feed and water in the coop, but now that it's getting colder we will close the hen house door at night. Should I put additional feed and water in the house, or can they go overnight without water and food?

I never put food and water in the coop because it causes unnecessary mess, it can attract rodents as well. My chickens only use the coop to sleep at night and rarely use it for anything else.

Welcome to BYC! There is no need for food and water overnight, they'll be sleeping. And food left out attracts rodents and larger varmints.

If your coop is not lighted at night, your chickens are on the roosts not eating or drinking at all until morning light. As it should be.
