What do I need to do to prepare for the baby chicks? Will she take care of keeping them warm now that Fall is here with temperatures in the 50's and 60's? Phil

Is she around other hens? If she is a good mommy she will keep them warm and safe. If not, they other hens may have lunch. Mine were all eaten and mommy joined in too

would eat them as they hatched. I saved three out of nine babies...the others were lunch for them. Seems the hatchery hens are not meant to be mommies. At least MINE weren't. Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

ETA...I have two bantam hens (both have their own homes with only the chicks) and they just hatched. It is getting down into the upper 30s here and the hens keep them nice and warm and they are just fine. No heat lamps used

They do each have only two chicks but they both go under the same wing so she would have room for more
