Hen is wheezing and rattling, small black scab in throat. Fowl pox or something else?

Oh Good! I'm glad she's doing much better.
I would like to know what that black thing is too. I wonder if it's just coloring and she's always had that? If you ever get a good look and figure it out, then let me know.

You're welcome!
A quick update on the black thing. It is still there, however, it looks like its breaking up. It seemed to be broken up into smaller pieces, and one piece actually looked like a leg from an insect, like a beetle or something. At least that's what it appeared from my quick glimpse before she decided I had a good enough look. Maybe it is an insect like a beetle that just sticks to her throat really well. I know a lot of beetles have kind of serrated legs that get stuck on everything. Even so it seems weird that it hasn't been swallowed yet. Maybe this is actually a common thing that happens and I just so happened to catch it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Also, an update on her breathing: It is still normal and hasn't regressed.

I'm glad to hear she's still doing ok!

Interesting about the black thing. I don't know...it may be something she ate and it got lodged in there. Hmmm...next time you take a look, have someone help you. Go prepared with a qtip and if it's still there, see if you can swab it out of her beak. Just a thought.

I also thought about fishing it out. I just didn't know if that could potentially harm her, but with a qtip that would probably pose no risk as long as I'm not jabbing her with it. I'll give it a few days again before I take another look. She really hates being handled like that and I'm worried if I do it too much she'll hurt her neck trying to wriggle out of my hand. If it is still there I'll see what I can do, Lucky willing.
