Hi. I'm fairly new to raising backyard chickens and still trying to learn as much as possible but I'm stumped. I have a RIR rooster and a RIR hen with 4 baby golden sex links still roosting indoors for another 2wks. Anyways my hen laid no problem from the moment I got her which had only been about 2 months. Now she had stopped laying for over 2 weeks now and it seems my rooster had been getting too rough with her. Is her non laying due to the rooster being too rough or is it possible she is molting and I just don't know? I have since separated my hen and rooster but still no eggs? Also we tried with our hen and having two chicks who both unfortunately didn't make it. Since that day my hen hasn't laid since

I don’t have experience with a rooster or chicks, but when my barred rock molted, it was obvious. Maybe that’s not always the case? But she visibly went through quite a feather loss and regrowth and looked pretty rough. Has yours lost many feathers?

How old are these birds?
She may have stopped due to the male being too rough.
Molting is a possibility too, tho it's a bit early they can stop laying before the feathers start flying.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

Sorry about that. I updated my location and about the feathers honestly not too much to my knowledge. I could tell the rooster was being too rough by her sides being torn up and missing feathers. My hens are roughly between 14 to 18 months or so, but my chicks are separated and still indoors at the moment and about 2 to 3 weeks

Literally torn up, as in torn skin?
If so, separate the male...maybe to the crock pot.
No my apologies no cuts or scrapes just bald spots where he holds on to mate. But they've been separatedfor 2 days now and nt hen seems to be reacting well but still no signs of egfs

It's OK, could have been either....never know unless I ask :D
Give her time....it's hot too, that can be part of the not laying.
