Hen just passed this

Ugh, it is getting to be common in layer flocks, particuarly the hatchery stock. Never had any issues with my breeders exhibition birds.

I can say this is looking like part of what my one had removed during surgery. It was a 2 lb mass of egg. There were 2 formed eggs in there and one had the shell. It didn't look like there was egg yoke in there, but drops in the abdomen and therefore gets cooked inside of her. I will get on my laptop and post a picture of it.

I hope she got it all out of her.

Do a google search for "lash eggs" I have seen pictures like yours and that's what they called them. It wasn't on BYC, I can't remember the name of the forum though.

Yes, I actually got those photos from another forum because.....as soon as I pulled mine from the nest box and broke it in half to examine it, the chooks snatched it away from me and started eating it, so I had nothing to photograph. So I went looking for photos like it to post and found those that looked identical to what I had just seen.

It is my fear also, that the hen will not lay any more. Sigh. Now I just need to figure out from which hen it came....
