I almost didn't see this in the nesting box. It's... just a shell? What the heck is going on here?

If you know which hen laid it give her a crushed calcium pill everyday for a few days. I just completed this treatment for one of my new layers. She got a pill for 4 days and today no more soft shells.

Forgot to add I put the crushed pill into small amount of hard boiled egg and mixed together. She couldn't tell the difference.

Okay, it's weirder then I initially thought. I thought the shell was hard, but on closer inspection it's weirdly spongy and flexible. Inside there was just a small amount of clear liquid. Posting a video in a second...

No idea which one it was, unfortunately. We only have four, but their shell colors are close enough that I can't tell by looking. I've been thinking about getting a camera for inside to coop, and if these sorts of shenanigans continue I might need to go ahead and get that.

Just bumping this up, since I've added a video. Does anyone know what might be causing this rubbery, deflated, empty egg? Should I be worried?

Good vid, did you hear me saying "cut it open" :D

It could just be a glitch....it could also be 'lash egg' material(caused by an infection in the reproductive tract).

I wouldn't panic and start giving all sorts of supplements just yet.

How old are these birds and how long have they been laying?
What all and how exactly are you feeding?
