my dog caught one of my hens and dragged her around by her head and she can't hold her head up for long

If she can't hold her head up it is probably really bad...I think that the right thing to do would be to put her out of her suffering. Unless you think that she could recover and is not in an extreme amount of pain. Is there a lot of blood or deep wounds? Could you post a picture? We had a raccoon attack a duck and tore up her neck so bad you could see the bone, we shot her because we didn't think there was any way she could recover. Maybe try to keep the dog away from the chickens in the future, but I'm sure that was just an accident. Sorry about your hen

I am also caring for a dog attack hen. More details and pictures would definitely be helpful. I shoot all mine on my phone, email, then upload from a laptop which I find the easiest to do so far. The fact she can hold her head up at all may mean the spine is intact. Could simply be a lot of pain.
