Hen not laying for days

I found out that she broody and that's probably why.

Exciting! Are you going to let her hatch eggs or no?

Normally flock raiser or all flock with optional oyster shells, but recently the feed store ran out of it, so right now I am feeding them layers feed until the bag runs out. My dad also makes a salad for them every morning so that might be helping.

Thanks for replying! I feed Purina All Flock/Flock Raiser too and mine free-range, but I'm not getting the same laying results as you! My BO is a few years old & it's her norm to stop laying in the heat of Summer. The 2 EE just turned 1 in June so this is their 1st Summer as Hens. I'm applauding you & your Dad!!

I don't plan on keeping her broody, we have too many chickens right now.
We don't have a rooster anyway.

Hello all,

I have a hen that isn't laying for days and still isn't laying. She stays in the nesting boxes for a while but doesn't lay an egg. She seems fine. What do you think happened? (She is a EE)

Sometimes a hen will stop
Suing because of stress or the introduction of new birds or something. She might also be sick or eggbound. You wouldn’t think this was true but hens/roosters never show any signs of illness until they’re on the verge of death.
