Hen not responding, please help!

I was trying to give her the molasses when she flapped her wings a couple of times and died. Thank you all for your advice, but she's gone.

I'm so sorry you lost this one. Would your budget allow for a lab necropsy? For the sake of the rest of your chickens, it would be wise to find out what killed this chicken.

Look around where you saw this chicken ranging yesterday. Is there any machinery leaking fluids onto the soil? Have you sprayed pesticides anywhere lately that may have re-liquified after a rain offering up a lethal puddle a chicken would drink from? Any slimy puddles or putrid compost?

These things can make a chicken sick very suddenly and die just as quickly.

Thank you for your concerns. I cannot afford to have a necropsy done, and won't do one myself. I went out to check on the others already, as well as search for anything potentially harmful to them. The birds are fine, and I didn't find anything dangerous. I will keep a close eye on them.

There was no blood in fee poo, but could it have been coccidosis? Should I give the flock something to prevent any disease? I am worried about them.

If caught before getting to bad, coccidosis can be treated easily. Once a hen had it, there immune. I recomened getting a gallon of corid if possible

With her comb turning blue, she could have had a heart problem that made her weak and fade out. It can really help to do a necropsy, even yourself at home, to open the abdome, look for amber fluid in the belly which can be indicative of ascites and heart or liver failure, look at the liver, the crop and inside of the gizzard, the inside of intestines, and to look for egg masses inside the abdomen. A professional necropsy is always best, but we can see a lot in doing them ourselves. Sorry for your loss.
