Americana is just the hatcheries name for an Easter Egger. And yes, he's a boy.

Yes they're just mutts. You can't buy purebred Araucana or Ameraucana from any hatchery. They're rather rare birds. Most hatcheries use either Ameraucana or Araucana in their advertisements, but it is not what they are really selling and usually they use the two terms interchangeably even though they are two separate and distinct breeds. If you do a search on here about this topic you'll find a lot of information.
