the one in question is your only cockerel and is a nice looking ee. are you sure this person is a breeder and didn't order the chicks from a hatchery?
Pele answered your question about that perfectlyOh wow, thank you for labeling them all!! The black one was sold to us as a "Olive Egger". I guess the eggs will be similar to what we had thought. The one you labeled as "production red pullet" is she an Ameraucana? (that is what they sold her as) My Cuckoo is the oldest born 5-22-12, weird her combs are still very small. The SLW was born 6-25-12 as she is the youngest, I got her when I took back the aggressive one.
It's possible she's a hatchery quality RIR (which in my opinion are just Production Reds anyway). Here is a picture of a heritage RIR, they are a completely different color than your girl:Heritage RIRs are dark rich mahogany brown. Very pretty birds, but I personally am not a fan of how loud they are. I actually prefer Production Reds
. You could probably get away with not letting your run dry, but it'll be messy work, and require LOTS of sand.
That's exactly what I thought as well hwdowden. Though that Black Ameraucana looks as pure an Ameraucana I've seen. She's beautiful. If she laid green eggs, I would label her EE though. Only blue eggs for true Ameraucanas. Also - about the friendliness: No my EE is skittish. The older ones are not, and will jump to my lap and allow me to pet them if I wantthe one in question is your only cockerel and is a nice looking ee. are you sure this person is a breeder and didn't order the chicks from a hatchery?
BrownWow they are very pretty, thank you for the photo! Do you know what color eggs my production red should lay? Thank you.

Brown![]()
I'm thinking she ordered these chicks by the bulk from a hatchery. She said she was a breeder, and I went to her home and there was (she said about 200 chicks) in her backyard in varies cages set up. There were only a couple roosters there, she said she keeps the rest off site. I paid good money because they were suppost to be organic feed. How would I know if she is a false breeder? Are there any other signs or clues? :-(
Brown....oh noes, she was suppost to be a blue layer. :-(
and why she also guaranteed them to be girlsThe black Ameraucana has pretty dark legs, maybe she's been mixed with a marans or something to make her an olive egger?
You'll probably have blue eggs from your EE, green from your OE, brown from the rest, (although I'm not positive about the white bird's egg colors.)
It's possible she does breed them at her house, but started with hatchery stock. Funny, though, that she was able to get purebred chicks in all those different breeds but have them be hatchery quality. Makes me think she may have, as others suspect, ordered a bunch from a hatchery and resold them.

How much did you pay for each chick? I think you were scammed![]()
