I have a full grown hen. she has accumulated "poop" on her bottom. last night I went to clean it off and found
1. Little tiny light beige "parasites" walking around her bottom
2. An area where there were no feathers on either side under her wings
Today I am giving her a bath but really have no idea about what those critters are. Its gross to think they are living on her. Yikes!! I really don't know what else to do other then clean her and cut all feathers involved in the matted "poop" area.

Could they be lice or mites?
Or are you thinking worms?

Sounds like lice. You probably need to clean out the whole coop, as good as you possibly can. (Meaning, get all of the bedding materials out of there. Sweep it clean!) Then you need to sprinkle your birds and also the coop with Seven Dust. And then put fresh bedding into the coop. Two weeks later, sprinkle the birds again to kill any eggs that have hatched. And you're right about bathing your chicken to clean off the poo matted feathers, but don't cut the feathers off, because a bare area on a chicken is a target for others to peck it, which can cause a wound. Also, worming is a good idea because that could explain the poo all over the vent area. Good luck to you and everything will be OK.
