That is great news! I'll bet that she feels better already.

I'm so glad that Penny is doing well!

You are not crazy, you have a big heart!

A month ago I brought a two day-old chick to the vet with a slipped tendon. I had called four vets prior to finding an avian specialist. Each office I called talked to me like I was crazy for trying to help my chick. The only thing that stopped me from having my chick undergo surgery was the cost. In the end the vet euthanized her and we buried her in a nice box in my flower garden. In my opinion, it doesn't matter the cost of the animal or it's specified "purpose". Many of our pets, including chickens, make their way into our hearts and become family.

Penny is so lucky to have you! Keep the updates coming.

Glad to hear she is ok. I am not anxious for the time when I am left with that same scenario. We lost our first chick when she was just a few weeks old. From the time we knew she was ill until she was gone was only about 90 minutes so we didn't really have time to think too hard. It was really tough watching her go and now I want to find a vet in the event we need one in a hurry! You're not nuts

Glad to hear that she is doing good. You are not crazy. She is your pet and you love her and that's what we do for our pets. Hats off to you. She is so luck to have you all. Sending good vibes your way that she makes a full recovery.

And by the way, I traveled 1 1/2 hours away to take my turkey to an avian vet, so I totally support what you did.
